Oh, what a joyous Sunday this will be, with our celebratory Pentecost worship! We remember how the disciples waited 10 days for the Ascended Jesus to fulfill the great promise of the pouring out of the Holy Spirit – and how on Pentecost, that Holy Spirit came rushing into their room with the sound of a mighty wind, like tongues of fire. Their lives were changed forever, as they boldly went out to proclaim the good news of God’s forgiveness & love for all nations in the name of Jesus – in foreign languages they could have never have spoken on their own. On that glorious day, Christ’s church was born – to be a beacon of living hope for all the world! How wonderful it is to know that promise of the Holy Spirit in our own lives – to know the Spirit’s comfort in times of distress & Spirit’s power in times of fear – to know the Spirit is there to give us words of prayer & hope, in deep languages of the heart we could not generate on our own!
