Fifth Sunday of Easter – 5/7/23

Sunday Worship – 5/7/23 Christ is Risen! Alleluia! As followers of Jesus, we move into the 5th weekend of the ongoing 50-day Easter season, as we continue to celebrate the power of God’s love to bring forgiveness, new life, and conquer all things. Beautiful symbols of God’s growing hope surround us everywhere – and we pray that the growing hope of God truly finds fertile soil in all our hearts, amid all life’s challenges! On this 5th Sunday of Easter, we hear more inspiring words from Jesus – about preparing a place for us, about many dwelling places for us in our Heavenly Father’s house, about Jesus coming into the world to be the joyful, grace-filled way, truth, and life for all. “Do not let your hearts be troubled,” Jesus says, and we truly find peace with his presence in our lives. Sunday, we have an uplifting message from Pastor Carl; and we welcome Lutheran Campus Minister, Pastor Jesse Caniff-Kuhn, to offer a very special thanksgiving moment. We also uplift in prayer our seminary graduates: Adriana McMurphy, Meghan Shuler, Isaac & Christine Taylor. We’re excited about our Spring Disciple gatherings, where we all gather in small groups for support & fellowship focusing on God’s growing hope. Be sure to check out the times and dates in your Journal, bulletin, and e-news. Don’t forget to sign our Mother’s Day cards for the residents of Rice Estate, plus respond to our LS Summer Worship survey (as the worship team ponders any possible creative schedule for the months of June & July). It’s not too late to participate in the wonderful Camp Kinard “Holy Spaces” effort to build a new chapel, fully accessible pool, and new entranceway for our Midlands Lutheran Retreat Center. Go ahead and mark your calendars for our next Mental-Emotional Wellness Gathering on May 21 with SC Dept of Mental Health Suicide Prevention Program Director, Jessica Barnes. This Sunday, the words of Psalm 31 echo in our hearts: “In you, O Lord, have I taken refuge – be my strong rock, a castle to keep me safe .. let your face shine upon your servant, save me in your steadfast love!” We truly look forward to being together this Sunday in worship to celebrate the steadfast love of God that carries us through all things!
