On this special weekend of Father’s Day, we give thanks for all fathers, grandfathers, and others who have played fatherly roles in our lives – as well as uplift the healing power of God’s love for those who grieve or find sadness on this occasion. Be sure to join us for worship Sunday, as we each name our fathers & grandfathers in prayer, those still living with us on earth and those living still in our hearts through the promise of eternal life in Christ our Risen Lord! This weekend is also significant because June 17 is the Commemoration of the Emanuel 9, mourning the tragic act of racial hatred at Mother Emanuel in 2015. We pray for God’s growing hope in all efforts of racial reconciliation! As part of our LS efforts, we have council members & others traveling to worship at Rehoboth Baptist on Sunday morning. If you would like to join, carpools will meet here at both 7:45 and 9:15. We also have our regular services at LS. Vacation Bible School is next Mon, Tue, Wed nights– spread the word to children & youth in your families and neighborhoods! To help out, see Latynia Taylor. Also, spread the word about ArtSmart daytime drama camp, June 26-29. We need lots of helpers to assist in serving breakfast, snack, and lunch – or to help shepherd the children from art station to art station! We had a great time last Sunday with our Summer Hymn Sing. Come 10 minutes early, at 8:05 and 10:20, to call out one of your favorite hymns and we’ll joyfully sing a couple verses. We also have our summer prayer emphasis, so invite someone to worship. Don’t forget our LiveStream if you (or friends/family) are out-of-town! This Sunday at 10:30, for Father’s Day, we have a special anthem from Disciples of Harmony. We hear how God’s hope continued to grow in many lives with Jesus’ great compassion for the crowds – and how Jesus sent out disciples to bring healing & hope! The words of Psalm 100 ring out this Sunday: “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all you lands, serve the Lord with gladness!” In Romans, Paul reminds us that “since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ!” We look forward to being together this Sunday to make a joyful noise of praise for our God of hope and be renewed in the amazing peace of Christ for our lives! #SundayWorship
