“Christmas in July” Sunday Worship – 7/28/24

“See – I am bringing you Good News of great joy for all the people – to you is born a Savior, who is Christ the Lord!” On Sunday at Living Springs, we rejoice in this message of angels as we celebrate Christmas in July! There will be special music and Faith Friends gift blessing at our 10:30 worship, which again is livestreamed for those who are traveling. Share with friends & families everywhere! At 9:00, we gather in the Fellowship Hall for a Christmas brunch – with Christmas activities, blessing bag assembly, and carols. Don’t forget to bring items for our Christmas dove tree for Lutheran Services refugee welcome ministry. You can wear something Christmas-y, and if you like, bring some Christmas-themed sweets or dishes to share. **There will be a shortened worship at 8:15, with communion, for those who cannot worship after the brunch. We give thanks for all who offered prayers for our youth during their time at the Lutheran Youth Gathering in New Orleans last week. In spite of all the airline challenges, we and our partner youth from Cristo Rey all arrived home safely last Sunday evening – thanks be to God! Our group of 26 has been recovering this week from some very intense & meaningful days with 16,000 others. You would have been so proud of their commitment and sharing of faith. The presence of Christ was truly felt in New Orleans! And special thanks to Pastor Zeke for filling in here at Living Springs! In addition to Christmas in July, we have our annual school supply collection going on. On Sunday, Aug. 4, we have our back-to-school bookbag blessing for all students and educators – don’t forget to send in your photos to Pastor Eric by July 31. Then, mark your calendars for our big Rally Day on Aug. 18. This Sunday, we hear how the child born in Bethlehem grew up to feed thousands with the 5 loaves & 2 fish of a little boy – and then how he came walking across a stormy sea to calm the fear of his followers. What joy it is to know the wonder of Emmanuel, “God with us”: providing the bread of life for us through all the storms of life! We truly look forward to being together Sunday to celebrate the gift of the Christ-child who still brings good news of great joy for all people! Christ’s peace! #WorshipSunday #ChristmasinJuly
