18th Sunday after Pentecost – Lutheran Men’s Sunday!

This is a special Sunday here at Living Springs, as we celebrate the witness and ministry of our Lutheran Men. We have several inspiring Hope Moments that will be shared, plus a musical offering by our LS Disciples of Harmony. We are very excited that the men have invited our Seminarian Isaac Taylor to deliver their message – and we will also take this opportunity to offer a blessing of thanks for Isaac, celebrating his ministry among us and preparing for his wedding in October. Be sure to come offer your love for Isaac on Sunday! On Sunday, we hear a reading from James that reminds us of the power of prayer, worship, and Christian care for one another (James 5:13-20). Jesus speaks against our human inclination to not accept God’s work in those who differ from us – and uplifts the love found in even giving a cup of water to someone because we carry his name (Mark 9:38-50). The words of Psalm 19 resonate for each of us, “let the words of my mouths and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength & redeemer.” We continue to be careful & considerate on Sunday mornings, offering safe worship options for everyone. We worship at both 8:15 and 10:30 in the sanctuary. At 10:30, you can also worship on the lawn (bring a blanket or lawn chairs), from the parking lot (via FM radio), or live-streamed at 10:30 (YouTube & Facebook). Prior to both services, we offer our 5-minute Hope Prayer Times to “Be Still & Know that God is God.” We again light our 5 special candles of HOPE: for first responders & victims of 9/11; for all affected by Hurricane Ida/fires/flooding/storms; for the people of Haiti; for our military & Afghan refugees; for frontline workers & all affected by COVID. During the pre-worship time, a pastor can come pray with you in the pew if there is a particular joy/burden on your heart!
