Eleventh sunday after Pentecost

This Sunday, we will hear Jesus’ teaching about the words that come from our mouth, and how they reflect the content of our hearts. We also hear how he travels into a foreign land. There, Jesus brings healing to a woman’s suffering daughter – and uplifts the “great faith” he finds in that woman, who would normally have been separated from Jesus by many religious, gender, and societal boundaries. It will be a very special service as we offer blessings for all our college students – and actually get to see clips of these amazing young people giving us personal updates about their educational journey. Like the loving mother from the gospel who lifted up her daughter to Jesus, we as a congregation lift up all our college students in prayer, asking for Christ’s strength for them as they begin a semester in some very unique & challenging settings.
