“God’s work. Our hands”/Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost This weekend, we join Lutheran Christians across the land for our annual “God’s Work, Our Hands” Servant Sunday. At LS, we’ll prepare 140 old-fashioned Sunday dinners for first responders, Meals-on-Wheels recipients, and those without homes. Kitchen helpers will start cooking at 9am. At 11:45, volunteers are needed to pack the meals – and we need helpers to then deliver the meals to local fire stations, police stations, and the downtown area. We’ll also pack 65 food backpacks for elementary school children in need after both services. Everyone can be involved! Our new GIFT Worship Experience for children continues at 10:30 Sunday worship. It’s so wonderful to see joy in young faces as they carry their wooden crosses, make joyful noise with instruments, sit with a pastor during the readings/sermon actively listening for special words – and then gather with family members at the Baptismal font for a special blessing after the service. This Sunday, we commission our LS Justice Team Leaders, plus light a special candle of prayer in remembrance of 9/11. Our Choir has a special anthem for the 10:30 service – and as always, we continue to stream worship at 10:30 on YouTube & Facebook for those who cannot attend in person (with FM Parking Lot option still also available). We hear powerful stories of our God who extends mercy and offers forgiveness. Jesus shares parables about a shepherd searching for a lost sheep and a woman searching for a lost coin – and the joy experienced when they are found. Come this Sunday and be reminded of the great joy we find in receiving forgiveness & mercy in our own lives – from Jesus the Shepherd, who loves you so very much!
