Sunday worship – 19th Sunday after Pentecost

This Sunday, Psalm 8 speaks about the mystery of God’s love for every one of us: “O Lord our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers…. what are mere mortals that you should be mindful of them, human beings that you should care for them?” How awesome it is to know that this majestic God who created the universe cares so deeply for you – and every member of the human family here on this little planet! We hear from Genesis 2 how God also created the animals to be named and loved by human beings (and on Sunday afternoon, from 3:00-5:00, we have our drive-thru Animal Blessing & Remembrance – see below). In the gospel reading from Mark 10, Jesus again takes little children in his arms and uplifts them as examples of trusting faith. The book of Hebrews reminds us that by God’s grace, we are all God’s children – and Jesus is not ashamed to call us his sisters & brothers, in spite of all our failings & imperfections. On Sunday, come sense the embrace of Jesus, lifting you up to be loved as God’s child! We continue to offer safe worship options for everyone. We worship at both 8:15 and 10:30 in the sanctuary. At 10:30, you can also worship on the lawn to enjoy the fall weather (bring a blanket or lawn chairs), from the parking lot (via FM radio), or live-streamed at 10:30 (YouTube & Facebook). Prior to both services, we offer our 5-minute Hope Prayer Times to “Be Still & Know that God is God.” During the pre-worship time, a pastor can come pray with you if there is a particular joy/burden on your heart.
