Twenty-Third Sunday after Pentecost

Generosity Intent Sunday On this 23rd Sunday after Pentecost, we hear Jesus’ words about ominous things that occur in the world – and yet, he reminds us to not be afraid, because he is with us to provide what we need to be faithful in our witness. Paul reminds us not to be idle in our faith, but to follow the example of so many who have gone before us and have sacrificed so much for God’s hope in the world, foremost being Jesus himself. Psalm 98 rings in our ears, “Sing a new song to the Lord, who has done marvelous things – shout with joy to the Lord!” We think about our theme of extending the umbrella of God’s hope – and pray for that umbrella of hope over all affected by Storm Nicole and other recent disasters. It’s a big and important Sunday for us all at Living Springs! Our Annual Congregation Meeting takes place between Worship Services, starting at 9:10. We need a quorum to elect council members and adopt our 2023 Ministry Spending Plan – so please make every effort to be present. Below, there is a link you can use to participate online. Also, this is our important Generosity Intent Sunday, when we offer our sealed Giving Intents at the HOPE cross during worship. It’s such a meaningful part of our faith to make an intentional plan for our giving of love to the Lord – at whatever level known to only you and God. LINK HERE for a copy of Pastor Eric’s special annual letter, plus there are links below to the inspiring Generosity moments that have been shared. You should have received your Intent Card and blue prayer envelope – but there will be extras here at church (or link below). Don’t forget the special $4000 Challenge Match we have, not for $$ amounts, but if we simply exceed last year’s # of 84 intents made by individuals and families. May we all respond as a way to see God’s generosity more clearly in our own lives – so that God may work through us to extend the umbrella of God’s hope to even more lives! On Sunday, we culminate 2 weeks of Veterans ceremonies, by recognize our veterans and active military with a special blessing. At 10:30, we share this year’s Quilt of Valor with Kyle Dyment – along with special music from Disciples of Harmony. May our hearts be filled with joy as we prepare to worship this Sunday and see even more clearly the generous grace of God in the cross of Jesus for us all!
