During Lent and Easter, the children (and adults) of Living Springs gave $546 in bucket offering to support the USC Lutheran Campus Ministry students who spent spring break to serve often forgotten disabled adults and abandoned children at homes made possible by Lutheran Service Agencies in St. Croix. When Campus Pastor Frank Anderson received news that this check was being sent, he immediately placed 2 phone calls: one to Living Springs to say thank-you and another to a young lady who went on the trip. She had been struggling and worried ever since the trip, as she received news that her home congregation were not giving her any support – because they decided that USC Lutheran campus ministry wasn’t part of their own branch of the Lutheran church. Pastor Frank said the Living Springs contribution will now be a true surprise gift from God for her! Through the bucket offerings at Living Springs, God placed a blue dot in the hearts of all those disabled adults and children, whose photos the students shared at our Lenten fish fry – but also God placed a blue dot in the life of one young college disciple, whose service and faith have now been affirmed through a congregation of disciples whom she had never even known before!
(Note: When combined with our Fish Fry money, Living Springs was able to send a total of $2000 to support our ongoing partnership with Lutheran Campus Ministry in the Columbia area. Through this, God will scatter blue dots all over the campuses of USC, Columbia College, and Midlands Tech this upcoming academic year!)
