It was a hot Saturday afternoon when the kids and I were running errands before vacation and we decided to grab a quick dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings on Two Notch Road. When we pulled up we noticed there was a RC Car Race (remote controlled cars race around a little track), so we decided to sit outside and have some entertainment while eating. Little did we know that the Spirit would invite us into a discussion about Jesus with 3 other people we didn’t know, and that would be a better way to “entertain” our minds and hearts that afternoon.
I am thankful that a gentlemen at an adjacent table asked to borrow an extra chair from our table, because it opened up a moment for us to introduce ourselves and who we were. One conversation piece led to another and before we knew it, we were talking about God’s amazing grace upon us through Jesus. It was so uplifting to hear each of us share how God lives in us and guides our decision making. My kids got to see me talking with strangers about God and for them that was very powerful! And now these strangers have become my friends in Christ as we send emails back and forth about how they view this scripture text or that one. We became a group of Jesus’ disciples in a random restaurant on a random day and now our lives are fuller because of it.
The Spirit led this entire interaction and is still present in our email conversations. I am thankful, for many reasons, that the Spirit brought us together. How powerful it was to experience this. Praise be to God!
