Our mission journey takes us to a prison in Jarratt, Virginia, where my brother is a prisoner serving a long term sentence. At his request, we do not visit him at the prison, but we keep in touch with him via letters and phone calls, including discussions, at times, about the works of Luther and Bonhoeffer. Frequently, we send my brother the bulletins from both the regular and special worship services here at Living Springs. Sometimes, a bulletin must be divided up into two, or even three, mailings, as he may receive no more than 1 -ounce of mail per envelope. A quote from a recent letter written by my borther shows how much this means to him: “I received the programs which complete Holy Week and Easter Sunday last night. Thank you so very much for them. When I can, I sit alone in my cell and take part in the service!” Truly, God’s work is in our hands.
