10th Sunday after Pentecost – 8/14/22

With the school year arriving, here on the 10 th Sunday after Pentecost, we are excited about our Blessing of the Schoolbags for teachers and students of every age this Sunday. Our annual school supply drive continues through Sunday as well. Also, it will be our 3 rd Summer Hope Sunday – with a visit from Courtney Tidwell of Palmetto Place Youth Services – don’t miss her inspiring presentation at 9:20. Our big annual Stuff-a-Bus for Backpack Food Ministry will be next Saturday, Aug. 20 at the 2 Krogers on Killian and Two Notch from 9-1. We can use lots of helpers, so, if you can be at either site for a half hour or so, please sign up at church – or call the office. Finally, mark your calendars for our Big Rally Day on Aug. 21 st with the Theme, “See Hope More Clearly.” Be sure to be present for the congregation photo to be taken at the end of 10:30 worship. This Sunday, we hear Jesus speak about the stress he faced with opposition about his ministry of God’s Kingdom for all people (Luke 12:49-56). Hebrews 12 reminds us that in life’s journey we ARE surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses who knew the power & joy of living by faith. “So therefore, let US run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith!” who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross.” (Hebrews 12:1) Don’t miss this joy of faith we share Sunday with the inspiration of our school bag blessing, Pastor Carl’s message, the special choir anthem, the grace of Holy Communion – and the wonder of being together as God’s people! #SundayWorship
