This Sunday, Jesus tells us that he came into our world not to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45). In Isaiah’s ancient words about a “suffering servant” (Isaiah 53:4-12), we are reminded how much Jesus suffered for us, how much he gave for us, how much he humbled himself to show God’s love for all of us. We also hear Jesus’ words to his followers, reminding us that our values & priorities are completely different from what the world promotes: that true greatness is not experienced in exalting oneself over others or seeking to be served – but rather in knowing the joy of life lived in loving servanthood to bring hope to others (Mark 10:41-44). We will have a special installation blessing for our next seminarian, Adriana McMurphy – and give thanks for her call to be a servant of Christ through the Church. We are blessed to have Ms. Caroline Berger offer special music; and we also kickoff our fall Generosity emphasis with our first Generosity Mission Moment. Please take time to read the special email sent out Friday morning, introducing our theme: “Giving Hope – Beacons of God’s Generosity!” We continue to offer multiple worship options for everyone. You can worship at either 8:15 or 10:30 in the sanctuary (live-streamed at 10:30 on YouTube & Facebook). At 10:30, you can also enjoy the fall weather & worship on the lawn (bring a blanket or lawn chairs), or from the parking lot (via FM radio). Don’t forget our special GIFT Zone children’s worship tables! Prior to both services, we offer 5-minute Hope Prayer Times to “Be Still & Know that God is God.” During this time, a pastor can also come pray with you if there is a particular joy/burden on your heart. Jesus came into this world as a humble servant to create a community of faith & servanthood that would carry on his mission. What an honor it is for us to be part of the Body of Christ, beacons of God’s generosity & hope for the world! We look forward to being together Sunday, as we are fed & inspired by Jesus, the truly Great Servant, who gave all for us!
