Twenty-Second Sunday After Pentecost

“The Lord has done great things for us – and we are glad indeed!” This Sunday, the words of Psalm 126 ring out in our ears and hearts. How blessed it is to be loved by a God who wants us to know gladness – and works great things for us, in the midst of all life’s challenges. On Sunday, we’re excited to have our JuBELLation handbell choir at 10:30 worship (the first time they’ll be in person since COVID struck). Disciples of Harmony are also offering a beautiful version of “Blessed Assurance”, with Pastor Carl providing one of his always uplifting messages. Our Sr. Youth have their Fall Retreat at Lutheran Camp Kinard this weekend – so please hold them in prayer. We continue our fall Generosity Emphasis – please take time to read each week’s “Giving Hope” insert (see below). Insert #2 has some very powerful Hope stories that will touch your heart! We continue to offer multiple worship options for everyone. You can worship at either 8:15 or 10:30 in the sanctuary (live-streamed at 10:30 on YouTube & Facebook). At 10:30, you can also enjoy the fall weather & worship on the lawn (bring a blanket or lawn chairs), or from the parking lot (via FM radio). Don’t forget our special GIFT Zone children’s worship tables! Prior to both services, we offer 5-minute Hope Prayer Times to “Be Still & Know that God is God.” During this time, a pastor can also come pray with you if there is a particular joy/burden on your heart. On Sunday, we hear a blind man cry out for mercy – and in spite of everyone’s attempts to silence him, Jesus takes time to be with him and bring healing sight, changing his life forever through the power of faith. We give thanks for the healing grace of God that brings sight to all the darkened, blind corners of our minds & hearts. We rejoice that Jesus is present to hear our cries and give us hope over all obstacles. And we rejoice to gather as God’s people this Sunday to be renewed in the power of faith that continues to change lives. Invite someone to join you!
